Dead Air follows Alfie, who in desperation attempts to resurrect her father, a man with truly dark humour, through AiR, an artificial intelligence chatbot that promises to “keep the conversation alive”. What follows is a heartfelt, sharp, and bitter black comedy exploring the collision of grief, fear of technology, and capitalist reality.
The idea for the work is rooted in the author’s personal experience. After the death of her father, Álfrún watched a documentary about AI services that replicate the voices of the deceased, discovering both the disturbing and comforting possibilities of such technology. The result is a contemporary ghost story about memory, loss, and the ways unresolved grief can prevent us from moving forward.

Moving writing and performance beautifully blend her grief, a comic cast, and the cool, corporate world of AiR. The Scotsman
Beautifully written, both wickedly funny and subtly intimate. A smart and skilfully executed variation on the solo performance form, delivered with great and seemingly effortless precision by the author. Þorgeir Tryggvason MBL
